MNT January Camp

The United States Men's National team played a scrimmage against the under 23 team on January thirteenth as part of their January camp. The camp is a good opportunity for Jurgen Klinsmann to tryout new players and pairings for the full squad, in preparation for upcoming international matches. The full team is composed of several first timers, like Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City) and Jeff Parke (Seattle Sounders). The game concluded with the full team beating the U23's 4-0. The goal scorers for the MNT were Chris Wondolowski, Benny Feilhaber, Teal Bunbury, and Graham Zusi.
Highlights included.

Brek Shea looked very involved during the game, playing unselfishly and assisting in Wondolowski's goal. He passed well and showed the same hustle he has been over the last year. Zusi also looked good in the scrimmage, making a strong case as to why he should be called up again in the future. Sean Johnson made some good saves in goal which will help him as he tries to become the new number two keeper.

The full team roster can be found here, and the schedule for upcoming matches is included here.

The full team will be modestly tested versus Panama and Venezuela, but the true test will come from Italy. Klinsmann was able to put together a good squad versus France, and this camp has given him time to implement some of his coaching philosophy. The addition of new players to the national team pool will surely benefit Klinsmann as he continues to take the National team's play-style in a more attack oriented direction. Whether or not this camp has had a significant impact will be evident in the score lines of the next two matches.
